Je ne vous ai pas encore montré le massif du cérisier. Il a été créé il y a 18 mois. C'est assez difficile de le rendre fidèlement en photo en raison de son exposition. Il est à l'ombre jusqu'à 14h et après cela il y a trop de soleil ! Allons y quand-même.

I haven't shown you the 18-month-old cherry-tree border yet mainly because photos of it are never really close to the real thing. This is due to its position as it is in shade until about 2 p.m. and afterwards the glaring sun seems to flatten it. Never mind.....here goes !

Les asters commencent à s'ouvrir à gauche. A gauche des asters on aperçoit l'hydrangéa limelight. Au fond un cornus sanguinea winter flame est encadré de deux eupatoires rugosum 'chocolate'. Deux rosiers 'Cornélia'et 'moustique' sont accompagnés par des persicaires, un stipa tenuifolia et un géranium vivace rozanne.

The asters on the left are just beginning to bloom and to the left of them you get a glimpse of a hydrangea Limelight. At the back of the border two eupatorium rugosa 'chocolate' surround a cornus sanguinea winter flame. Further forward there are two rosebushes 'Cornelia' and 'Moustique' as well as some persicaria, stipa tenuifolia and geranium 'rozanne'.

Rosa Cornelia, Persicaire, géranium rozanne et une petite fleur du géranium 'Patricia' qui se sent bien seule! Et puis une libéllule bien utile car elle aide à soutenir les branches de Cornélia qui partent dans tous les sens!

J'ai planté ce rosier en novembre 2013, acheté avec l'étiquette "Astronomia" et visiblement ce n'est pas cela. Depuis le début il est vigoureux et a un feuillage sain. Il est remontant et a un très léger parfum. Aujourd'hui il mesure 90cm. Pouvez-vous m'aider à trouver son nom ?

I planted this rose bush which was wrongly labelled "Astronomia" in November 2013. From the beginning it has proved to be robust and has healthy foliage. It is repeat-flowering and has a very discreet fragrance. It currently measures 90cm. Any ideas ?

Charlotte du blog le Jardin du Chat Vert a lancé une très bonne idée : elle a choisi  son meilleur rosier de l'année en lui conférant le titre pétale d'or. Elle a choisi un ravissant petit rosier Petite Françoise. Je vous conseille d'aller le découvrir sur son blog.

Personnellement après pas mal d'hésitation j'ai choisi le rosier Léonard de Vinci. Je l'ai planté en novembre 2013 et j'en suis ravie. Il est vigoureux, en très bonne santé et fleurit presque continuellement depuis le mois de juin.

Charlotte has proposed a brilliant idea on her blog Jardin du Chat Vert where she awarded the title of Golden Petal to the rose of the year in her garden : the delightful Petite Françoise. I recommend you go and discover it on her blog.

Personally after much hesitation I chose Leonardo Da Vinci which I planted in November 2013 and am delighted with. It is robust and disease resistant and has flowered almost continuously since the month of June.

Sur les blogs on parle beaucoup de dahlias en ce moment. Je vais vous montrer ceux de mon jardin. Je préfère les dahlias aux fleurs simples mais je n'ai pas que des simples dans le jardin. Je ne possède pas de grands dahlias pour éviter la nécessité de tuteurs. Tous les dahlias sont intégrés dans les massifs. Les photos sont de hier matin sauf celle du dahlia Ellen Houston qui date du 8 août.

Currently there is a fair amount of talk about dahlias on garden blogs. Here are mine. I prefer single-flowered dahlias but several in my garden are not singles.  I don't have any tall dahlias in order to avoid having to stake and I place them all in mixed borders. The photos were taken yesterday morning apart from the one of Ellen Houston which was taken on August 8th.

En fait nous vivons ensemble en harmonie parfaite avec les abeilles. Il y a énormément d'avantages à avoir des abeilles dans le jardin: on contribue au sauvetage de la planète, les abeilles pollinisent les plantes, on mange du bon miel et surtout...surtout .... on apprend à courir très très vite!

In fact we live in perfect harmony with the bees. There are many advantages to having bees in the garden : you help save  the planet, the bees pollinate the plants, you eat as much honey as you want and most important of all.....you learn to run fast !
